Founded by Peter Kolks and Ric van Rest in 2003, Pop Trading Company is known as Amsterdam’s best skate brand and continues to establish a refined aesthetic inspired by skateboarding, their local community and growing up in the ‘90s. Starting out as a distributor for brands such as Palace, Polar Skate Co. and Quartersnacks, the duo’s goals progressed and developed after Kolks had the idea of opening a boutique style skate shop that sold a variety of menswear brands. Pop Trading Company became the first skateboarding brand to show at Paris Fashion Week. Self-labelled as a menswear inspired skate brand, Peter and Ric have remained grounded and supports the local skateboarding community within Amsterdam through events, film premiers and skate sessions.
